D Carter are forced to leave their animosities at the door and learn that one should never judge a book by its cover As Carter’s barriers begin to crumble Kat realizes there’s much to her angry student than she thought leaving them to face a new perilous obstacle their undeniable attraction to one anoth A Pound of Flesh35 Stars The pound of flesh which I demand of him Is dearly bought; ’tis mine and I will have it —The Merchant of Venice Act 4 Scene 1 A Pound of Flesh is a contemporary forbidden romance The writing is well executed and I felt like the plot was very intriguingKat is a spunky young professional working as a teacher in a prison She has always been responsible and straight laced She made a promise to her father to do good in the world and is trying to make that happen When an overbearing prisoner enters her classroom her world is shaken to it's core Wesley James Carter Arthur Kill Correctional Facility inmate and all around punkCarter is not a bad guy He is simply a guy that has made some bad decisions He is currently in prison and hoping that he can make parole Kat and Carter have a dramatic start to their relationship Of course they have no business getting involved but due to unknown circumstances although I figured it out pretty uickly Carter is drawn to Kat The two become friends and it eventually develops into The dynamic between the two was uite enjoyable to experience and I was certainly rooting for them the entire read“You’re my everything” So why the rating?
